Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health, Inc., announced a strategic partnership with Surat, India-based Sahajanand Medical Technologies . This partnership will provide Cardinal Health access to India’s urban and Tier II & III cities where Sahajanand has strong and established sales as well as a direct distribution network. The Cordis unit of Cardinal Health plans to make available its interventional vascular products to the fast-growing Indian cardiology market. According to the Global Burden of Disease study, nearly a quarter of all deaths in India can be attributed to cardiovascular diseases.
Sahajanand develops and manufactures precision engineered cardiac products such as coronary stents (drug-eluting and bare-metal), renal stents, PTCA balloon catheters and other cardiac accessories in India and abroad. Amod Bhave, VP, business development said, “Our strategic partnership with Cordis enables us to complete our offerings in the [cardio] medical devices market.”
