Senvion Boosts Turbine Advancement with R&D Center in India

Senvion, a German wind turbine company based in Hamburg has announced that its new R&D facility in Bangalore, India, is slated to open this month. This center will support its existing center in Osterronfeld, Germany. The group’s vice president of production management, Bernhard Telgmann, said, “In order to maintain the extremely high level of expertise when expanding the team, we look into countries with excellent engineering capabilities in wind energy.”

A company spokesman explained that India was chosen as the location for this new center because “communication is easy because English is a business language in India. The time zone allows us more hours that colleagues in India and Germany work at the same time compared to other countries, for example, China. This is important for a successful collaboration.”

New Senvion chief financial officer Manav Sharma told WindpowerMonthly the move last week was to allow a refocusing of strategies. “We can now run technology away from the distractions of a fully operating business like servicing, and concentrate on some very crucial product interventions with a renewed and complete focus,” he said.
