Major steamship lines have been announcing monthly general rate increases (GRI) for transpacific cargo from the Far East and India to Canada and the U.S. In many cases, the GRIs have been mitigated or eliminated. Effective November 15, 2014, ocean carriers intend to implement a GRI that some trade officials believe will come to fruition.
