500 Startups invests in Bangalore’s tech firm ZipDial

The company 500 Startups is a seed fund based in the US that began investing in India just over a year ago and now has closed its tenth deal in the country with ZipDial. According to Paul Singh, a partner at 500 Startups, the investment was standing between $250,000 and $500,000.

ZipDial was founded by Valerie Rozycki Wagoner, Sanjay Swamy and Amiya Pathak in 2010 and is about the distinctively Indian concept of a “missed call”. Indeed, whenever a customer calls a unique ZipDial number provided by a company, he will receive a text/call back with the details regarding that company.

Among its Indian clients, the company counts counts Unilever, Procter and Gamble , Disney or Puma. The company takes around 7% stake in a startup. According to Singh, it wants to be the most active early stage investor in India.
