According to a SIPRI, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, India has maintained its position as the world’s leading arms importer for the third year in a row. Indeed, India replaced China as the leading importer of weapons in 2011 and has maintained its spot since then, accounting for 12% of global arms imports.
India’s business accounted for 10% of the global arms market between 2007 and 2011. South Korea was next, accounting for 6% of sales, followed by Pakistan and China (5%) and Singapore (4%).
