The Indian wine industry is experiencing growth. According to Forbes, India’s wine consumption rate increased by 29% in 2022, and in 2023, India’s wine market value was $238 million. Some prominent Indian Wine makers:
- Grover Vineyards, near Bangalore, produces La Reserve, one of the most sought after wines in the country.
- Sula Vineyards, established 1996 outside Nashik, produces the brand Sula most often on wine lists. They also export to many other countries.
- Fratelli Wine, launched in 2007 by three sets of brothers from Italy and India, produces wines such as Chenin Blanc and Sette.
Foreign wine companies in India:
- E&J Gallo (US) has a joint venture with an Indian company to distribute the Gallo brand of wines in India.
- Seagram, now Pernod Ricard, has set up a winery at Nashik to produce Jacob’s Creek, Campo Viejo, and other wines.
- Louis Vitton Moet Henessy (France) is a luxury brand, with wines such as Chandon Brut, Rose, and Aurva, and has been present in India since the 1990s.
