Over a 14-year career at Sun Microsystems, Dr. Avinash responsibilities spanned global engineering, business services , data center management software and more. Avinash founded and served as the Managing Director for Sun Microsystems’s India Engineering Center in Bangalore. Since he opened the IEC in 1999, the facility contributed more than 160 patent disclosures and eight major product releases to the Sun portfolio. Avinash led the transition of multiple large products to the India Engineering Center, and its evolution into Sun’s top international engineering facility, by designing the IEC infrastructure and business model, and recruiting the very best local talent.Earlier in his career, Avinash held technical and management roles at Teknekron Communication Systems and at Tymshare. He also founded Jupiter 2x(Learning). Avinash holds a Ph.D from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has taught Strategic Offshoring at Stanford University. Avinash advises Amritt clients about global engineering issues.

Gunjan has 25 years of global sourcing and marketing experience. He has held senior positions in global technology sales and marketing. He has managed teams sourcing products from China, India, Japan, and the rest of Asia. He began his career as an engineer for Larsen & Toubro Bangalore, a prominent Indian industrial firm. Mr. Bagla came to the U.S. and later worked as Director of Program Management for Tandon Computer.Based in California, he is the author of the acclaimed title “Doing Business in 21st Century India: How to Profit Today from tomorrow’s most exciting Market” published in July 2008 by Warner/Hachette Books. More about our CEO.

Retired Major General Indra Shekhar’s most recent role was spearheading the acquisitions of weapons and equipment for the Indian Army in the Acquisition Wing of India’s Ministry of Defence. He significantly contributed to the formulation of the policies and procedures for Indian Defence Procurement and in negotiating various aspects of global and domestic defence acquisition schemes. He has also been quoted for his article on India’s defense acquisition system.His last border posting was as a Brigadier in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan on the Pakistan border where he commanded an artillery brigade of a strike formation in 2002-2003. In a later role, he led manpower planning for the 1.3 million strong all-volunteer Army, including managing hiring targets, cadre managemnt, and manpower development.General Indra Shekhar is a 1971 graduate of India’s National Defence Academy in Pune. Later in his career he graduated from the National Defence College in New Delhi from a special course designed to equip top select officers to take on the most senior military leadership roles in India. For his leadership and training skills in the classroom and the field, General Indra Shekhar has long been recognized by the All India Management Association.

Rodney served as the Vice President of Support Services for a large global Video Games Publisher, in his last corporate role. He was responsible for overseeing a headcount of hundreds and spanning all Internal and External support, documentation, sound and video, and quality assurance and in this role, he often hired business consultants and experts from the outside. Rod now brings his corporate perspective to the rest of our team of India consultants.Earlier in his career, Rod worked as a professional teacher and instructor for over 5 years teaching for both the US Air Force and private computer companies. He has been a project manager and consultant for several software and hardware projects supporting local and international groups. Rod is based in Tennessee.

In his most recent corporate position, Russ was the President of the Honeywell Engines, Systems, and Services business and the Honeywell Air Transport and Regional business. Before joining Honeywell, He was the president and CEO of United Space Alliance (USA) where he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Space Shuttle and elements of the International Space Station, under the Space Flight Operations Contract.Earlier in his career he held senior positions at Rocketdyne and as vice president and general manager of Reusable Space Systems for The Boeing Company in Downey, California. Russ advises Amritt’s clients in the aerospace, defense, and civil aviation business.

Smita has over 20 years of experience in Healthcare, Entertainment, Information Technology and Service industries. Smita’s work experience includes well known companies such as Kaiser Permanente’, Amgen, UnitedHealth Group, UCLA Medical Center, as well as Alpha Therapeutics, Retix and Amber.  Smita is a serial entrepreneur and a seasoned executive in organizational change management, gamification, process re-engineering, prescriptive data analytics and strategic guidance. She has successfully managed multimillion dollar initiatives global offshore development through cross cultural barriers across multiple cultures including India, China, Ireland, Germany, Latvia, and Switzerland. Smita has Masters in Computer Science from Indian Institutes of Technology, India. Smita’s papers on 3-D modeling and Image processing have appeared in IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications and in the World Symposium of AI and Pathology. She is a seasoned cross cultural expert and serves on the boards of multiple technology and community organizations. In 2013, the South Asia Business Alliance Network, bestowed the Annual Woman Entrepreneur Award on her.

Supriya spent four years as a manager at Microsoft Corporation handling complex web sites, content and related media in her last corporate role. She previously worked in technology and media management positions at AT&T and at Ziff Davis. Other India business experts often turn to Supriya for her cross-cultural tact and expertise in ferreting out the communication challenges between India and West.

Dinesh is a mechanical engineer with bachelor’s and master’s degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has over 30 years industry experience with top Indian engineering companies including Larsen & Toubro as well as leading American companies including Eaton and Kohler. He held leadership positions with each of these companies. For Kohler, he established their presence in India and built up their operations.Dinesh leads our India consultants, who provide in-country guidance to Amritt clients visiting India. Amritt’s India business experts can interview executive candidate hires, pre-qualify business potential business partners, perform due diligence on merger and acquisition targets and other perform other top level guidance.
