Sports Industry in India: The Indian sports goods industry manufactures wide-range of sports equipment. Its famous products are inflatable balls, cricket bats and balls, hockey sticks and balls, boxing equipment, fishing equipment, indoor games such as chess and carom boards, and different kinds of safety equipment used across various sports and games.
The industry is a major contributor to the Indian economy in terms of employment. India’s sport equipment exports had a growth rate of approximately 15 percent over the period of 2003-2008. The industry exports nearly 60 percent of its total output to sport-loving people all over the world.
