Shahnaz Hussain is the Chief Executive Officer of Shahnaz Herbals Inc, India’s leading company in the field of natural beauty and anti-aging treatments.
Born to a Muslim family, she was schooled at an Irish convent school. She was 14 when she was engaged and got married at the age of 15 and had a child by the next year.
Shahnaz Hussain went to Iran with his husband there her keen interest in beauty and cosmetology developed. At the age of 27, she started studying beauty with leading organizations and experts such as Helena Rubinstein, Arnould Taylor, Swarzkopf, Christine Valmy, Lancôme and Lean of Copenhagen. She supported herself by working as Beauty Editor for the Iran Tribune. She finally earned money and did specialization in cosmetology and trichology.
Shahnaz Hussain started her work at India in 1977 by introducing natural Ayurvedic chemical free products for beauty care and established her first beauty salon. She introduced a new concept of “care and cure”. Today her company produces more than 400 different products which have a market in over 138 countries. In 1990, she expanded her consumer base by entering the retail markets. The Shahnaz Group has diversified its business into health resorts, spas and low calorie health drinks.
Shahnaz Hussain in 1981 was Chairman of the International Beauty Congress (I.T.E.C.). In 1982, she was elected Vice President at Independent Professional Therapists International. In 1982, she represented India at the Cosmetic Fair at Brighton, U.K. She was appointed President of the congress proceedings.
She was honored with the Golden America Award and the Indian Government Awards ‘Udyog Ratan Award’ for Export Excellence in 1984. She was awarded ‘World’s Greatest Woman Entrepreneur’ award in Success Magazine in 1996. She received ‘The Arch of Europe Gold Star Award for Quality’ and ‘The 2000 Millennium Medal of Honor’. In 20012, was honored with two prestigious international awards: for Quality Excellence and Outstanding Woman Entrepreneur, by Global Quality Management, of London. In 2006, she was awarded Padma Shrih from Indian President Dr.Abdul Kalam.
