Kim Kardashian, the American reality television star, beauty mogul, and entrepreneur, has made only one visit to India – but it was a highly publicized one. In July 2024, she and her sister Khloé Kardashian traveled to Mumbai to attend the star-studded wedding of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani, heirs to two of India’s most powerful business families.
The Kardashian sisters spent two days in India, attending the main ceremony, which drew celebrities, billionaires, and dignitaries from around the world. Their attendance was arranged through a mutual connection with renowned celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, a close friend of Kim and the Ambanis. At the event, Kim reportedly wore an intricate diamond necklace borrowed from Schwartz, and made headlines when one of the diamonds fell out during the festivities.
Following her visit, Kim remarked that India was nothing like the city in Aladdin – a comment that reflects how travel often challenges preconceived notions. For many first-time visitors, especially from the West, India can be full of surprises, offering a mix of tradition, innovation, and scale that’s difficult to fully anticipate.
Despite the brief visit, Kim left a strong impression. Isha Ambani, sister of the groom, remarked that the Kardashians’ presence was the highlight of the wedding for her.
