Hindalco Industries Limited engages in the production and sale of aluminum and copper in India and internationally. The company’s aluminum products include rolled products, extrusions, foils, primary aluminum ingots, billets, wire rods, and aluminum slabs; and aluminum chemicals, such as standard alumina, standard hydrate and specialty aluminas and hydrates for use in refractories, ceramics, fire retardant plastics, alum, and zeolite applications. Its aluminum products are used in architectural, electrical, industrial, transport, defense, and consumer durables industries, as well as in packaging, building and construction, and general engineering applications.
It offers aluminum foil and packaging solutions to pharmaceuticals, healthcare, dairy, confectionery, processed foods, personal products, and tobacco industries, as well as to the heat, ventilation, and air conditioning industries. It also offers copper products, which include copper cathodes and continuous cast copper rods; and produces precious metals, including gold and silver, as well as sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, di-ammonium phosphate, other phosphoric fertilisers, and phospho gypsum.
The company was formerly known as Hindustan Aluminium Corporation Limited and changed its name to Hindalco Industries Limited in October 1989. The company was founded in 1958 and is based in Mumbai, India. Hindalco Industries Limited is a part of the Aditya Birla Group.
