Texas Instruments India: TI is one of the leading suppliers of semi conductor solutions that are DSP-based. Currently it has two operations in the country; Silicon design and embedded software. TI was successful in India because it had the early mover advantage, being the first MNC to come to India and obtain a hold in the digital market in India. Its marketing strategy of going to major cities and schools to increase awareness of their technology also led to success. Other factors were its strong R&D facility, its University Relations Program (a program in which TI help establish DSP labs and sponsor some analogue research projects and provides student partnership), and by upgrading the local talent by reaching out to students in universities. For TI, India is a R&D hub involved in chip design. India also holds high quality manpower with major achievements in single chip cellular solution for high-speed modem and the launch of the first DSP made in India made only by Indian engineers (1998).
