Nandan Nilekani is a co-founder of Infosys Technologies (see N.R. Narayana Murthy) and in 2010 became chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), an agency of India’s government. UIDAI is focusing on providing a unique identity number for all Indian citizens with biometric data and photographs by 2011. UIDAI receives an annual budget of $681 million.
