Laboratories in India

Laboratories in India: India has some of the best technology and research in the world. The many laboratories scattered throughout the country contribute to research, development, and manufacturing of a broad range of products and services, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, analytical instruments, and other areas. Several of India’s laboratories have gained international recognition for the excellent technology and research that comes out of them.

One of the first laboratories established in India is the government-run National Physical Laboratory. The National Physical Laboratory performs physics-based research and development to benefit the science and technology sectors of India. It works to maintain and calibrate standards of measurements in India, and works to supplement the physics-based research of other organizations and companies, both public and private, in India. There are nine research areas the National Physical Laboratory focuses on: measurement standards, physico-mechanical standards, electrical materials, electrical standards, engineering materials, materials characterization, radio and atmospheric sciences, superconductivity and cryogenics, and core competencies. The research performed at the National Physical Laboratory serves to bolster India in the global technology community, and to encourage further research and development in the physical sciences.

Another laboratory in India, Accutest Research Laboratories, is an excellent source of clinical research. Accutest works with approximately 5,000 volunteer subjects for drug assays and testing of other compounds and substances, and their tests are recognized by a number of international health adminstrations and organizations, particularly the United States’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária (ANVISA), and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the United Kingdom, among others.

India’s growing reputation for technology, innovation, and research makes it the ideal place for laboratories in any field, and the country works hard to maintain and improve the preexisting standards for research.
