IndiaRetailing.Com reports that in an effort to streamline and simplify regulations for the food service industry, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has planned to implement:
- The appointment Food Safety Supervisors – In a pilot testing phase, the training and certification of Food Safety Supervisors has already been started in the western state of Goa, and will be conducted in all states.
- Displaying Food Safety Boards – If Food Safety Display Boards, that highlight food safety and hygiene measures are not displayed or followed at outlets that serve food, consumers can reach the regulators via a helpline.
- Streamlining the responsibilities of various agencies concerned with food service – CEO, FSSAI, Pawan Agarwal said, “The police authority will monitor public gatherings from a law and order point of view; the municipal authorities will be responsible for the general sanitation of the place; and the food authority will ensure food safety and hygiene of the food served to consumers is concerned.”
