Headquartered in Dover, FL, UM International, LLC said that in the next three years all its bikes under 700 cc and over 300 cc will be developed and manufactured in India.
After launching Renegade Commando Mojave and Renegade Commando Classic in Chennai, Jose Villegas, director, UM India, said India is becoming a hub for premium bikes and UM International is bullish about the country not only as a market, but also as a play for global operations.
The company, which has a manufacturing unit in India’s northern state of Uttarakhand, expects to achieve sales volumes of over 25,000-28,000 units this financial year. Villegas added that the company achieved localization of over 72 percent since they commenced production in India in 2014, and in the next 18 months the company plans to achieve 100 percent localization.
