U.S. Trade Representative Supports Waiver to Accelerate Covid-19 Vaccine Production

In a move that could help Indian companies ramp up production of Covid-19 vaccines currently developed/marketed by Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson, Katherine Tai just released a statement supporting  the waiver of  Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs provisions on the World Trade Organization), relating the production of these vaccines

Tai, the U.S. Trade Representative tweeted, “These extraordinary times and circumstances of call (sic) for extraordinary measures. The U.S. supports the waiver of IP protections on COVID-19 vaccines to help end the pandemic and we’ll actively participate in @WTO  negotiations to make that happen.”
