In India, the term raspberry is often incorrectly applied to a berry/fruit known in Hindi as rasbhari, whose biological name is Physalis peruviana and is marketed in the United States as the pitchuberry.  True raspberries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry)  are not grown much in India and are not commercially sold.
