initial entry, as into a new market or product category by a company.  In the West a foray is an incursion, a short activity, even a raid.  But the Indian press uses foray and forayed as verbs to indicate new activities by persons or entities. For example in July 2013, “Procter & Gamble (P&G) today announced its foray into the toothpaste market in India with launch of its Oral-B Pro-Health brand” according to the Business Standard newspaper.
