In Indian English the term aerodrome is often used to mean a small airport.  Technically the term is the most general description of a location where aircraft can land and takeoff – so an airstrip, an airfield, an airport are different kinds of aerodromes.  The use of this word seems to be fading in India recent years

According the International Civil Aviation (ICAO),  it is”a defined area on land or water (including any buildings, installations, and equipment) intended to be used either wholly or in part for the arrival, departure, and surface movement of aircraft.”
