Steve Jobs India
Steve Jobs trip to India in 1973 as a backpacker to meet a spiritual guru had a profound influence on him.
Jobs realized that more than spirituality or ideology it is technology that can help to uplift lives and improve the world. Jobs visited India as a teenager along with friend Dan Kottke. In the land of spirituality, he took an interest in Buddhism, shaved his head and wore Indian clothes.
Steve Jobs wished to meet spiritual teacher Neem Karoli Baba, but when he reached his ashram the guru had already died. Jobs returned to America disillusioned with the chaos and poverty in India.
But in a way he had become enlightened as he turned his attention to creating innovative technology products through which he did his bit to better the world in his own way.
